Brody's Temporary "Bed"

Brody's Temporary "Bed"
Monday
March 22, 2010
I am really starting to regret the Idaho trip Brody and I went on. Not because it wasn't fun, we had a blast. But because it totally and completely messed up Brody's bed time. He was PERFECT before we left. I would read him a book while he drank his bottle, then put him in his pack n play (the cribs too big for my room) while he was still awake and he would fall asleep on his own every time..no crying. That was even as early as 8:00 at night. Now its a totally different story. He has completely refused to sleep in his bed. So I let him sleep with me for a few nights, just so I could get some sleep. Honestly I would be fine with him sleeping with me other then the fact that we're in a tiny twin bed, and he moves constantly all night! I am lucky if I get him to fall asleep by midnight, and that's after Iv layed with him for hours. I'm trying not to complain about it, but really...what the heck!! I miss my nights!!
Anyways, onto the story of the bed. I couldn't take it with him in my bed anymore and I am just so emotionally and physically drained I didn't even know what to do with him. So my mom took him one night and made this little "bed" for him. Its great because I have to lay with him for him to fall asleep and with this I can. He only last about half way through the night before he comes into bed with me, but hey that's half a night of rest for me! I pray this is only temporary!!

Little Blue Face

Little Blue Face
Sunday
March 21, 2010

Brody found one of Evans half eaten bottle pop things (or whatever they are called) and started sucking on it and wouldn't let it go. He loved it! That kid has the biggest sweet tooth, he will eat any kind of candy he can get his hands on. Of course it had to be blue. I thought his little blue face was so stinkin cute though, sticky and all!

March 20, 2010
After we got back from the softball game we started to clean the garage out. I had to find a few baby things so we had to take pretty much the WHOLE garage out to find them! In the proses of cleaning it out Brody's baby swing got put out in the driveway. He keep playing with it so I thought it would be fun to see if he would still fit in it. Haha I guess you could say he fit, but defiantly not like he used to. We turned the music on and the little fish were twirling around, he loved it.

Brody had broken one of my Moms lamps. He would take the lamp shade and play peak a boo with us. He thought it was sooo funny!

I got his shorts out from last year to see if any would still fit. Some did, but not a lot. I was so sad, I hate putting baby clothes away. Especially when they are super cute.

My mom found Anya's pink cowgirl boots she used to wear all the time and we put them on Brody. They fit too, the funny part is Anya was around 3 when she wore them. He liked clippedy clopen around in them.

Softball Game

Softball Game

March 20, 2010
Softball used to be my life. I was obsessed. When it was softball season I lived and breathed it, and when it wasn't I was getting ready for it and pitching on my own. I mean I was obsessed! I hadn't been to a Prosser game since I played. I know a couple of the girls on the team so my Dad Brody and I went to the Saturday games. They played Toppenish and won the first game, we didn't stay for all of the second. Lets just say I'm glad I play a few years ago and not now. It was a little painful to watch, but Brody sure had fun!!
He loved walking up and down these bleachers and playing on them.
He keep trying to get balls from the other teams dug out. Then he would thrown them against the fence. He also thought the helmets hanging were pretty cool.
But most of all he loved playing in the dirt!! He would use that little red and white lid next to him to dig when he wasnt using the black one. He had so much fun.

Playing Outside

Playing Outside
Wednesday
March 17, 2010
Brody is an outside kind of guy, that's for sure. He loves being outside more than anything. If he is crying or cranky all we have to do it take him outside and hes completely fine. He is even getting to the point where all you have to say is either "lets go outside" or "lets get your shoes on" and he gets happy. Thankfully it is getting warmer out because I'm such a wimp, I hate being cold. He could play outside for hours!
My mom has this little fence around some plants so the dog can get to them. Whenever we are out there he will go and do this to each one of those little balls. I don't know why but he has to taste every one of them, its the weirdest thing.

Grandma gave him a big spoon to dig with, it keep him quiet entertained.

Wednesday
March 17th, 2010
Brody's favorite thing to do in the morning is watch cartoons while eating breakfast. Brody's second favorite thing to do it shove anything and everything possible into the VHS slot on the TV. We have found paper, bracelets, pens, notepads, you name it we have probably found it in there.

First Sink Bath

First Sink Bath
Tuesday
March 16th, 2010
I'm pretty sure this was Brody's first sink bath. It didn't start out being a bath though. He had stepped in some dog poop outside so I was soaking his feet and then all of a sudden he decided that he wanted to sit down in the water. So I just gave him a little mini bath. It probably would have worked better when he was younger though because now he just wants to grab and touch everything. He had fun though, I think it was exciting for him!

Hot Dogs

Hot Dogs!!

Brody's new favorite food....Hot Dogs!! And he loves dipping them in ketchup. He cant get enough of them, he probably eats one a day. I also love how he sits in his highchair. He loves propping one of his legs up, I just love how he leans back and gets all comfy. What a cutie!!

Headed Home

Headed Home
Monday
March 15th, 2010
Originally Brody and I were going to leave Rexburg Saturday, but we decided to stay a couple extra days. We left on Monday, which just happened to be my 21st birthday. I never imagined celebrating my 21st birthday with a 9 hour drive home, but it was actually one of the best Iv had. I got to spend the whole day with the man of my dreams and my best friend! The ride home was defiantly way better then our drive to Rexburg. It took us a little over 12 hours to get there! It was horrible, I couldn't get the brand new DVD player to work, Brody was usually screaming, we had to stop a ton...it was bad! We didn't get to Anya apartment till really late. This time I made sure to be very prepared. Binky's and sippy cups were ready, books and toys were in reach, and of course we bought a new portable DVD player. I was NOT going to go through that again. I must really have bad luck with DVD players because that one ended up not working either and we had to stop 2 hours into out trip and exchange it. So finally we got a good DVD player!! It was an answer to my prayers, he was an angel almost the whole way! He took two naps and was probably asleep for around 4 hours of the trip. And the time he was awake he was either watching a movie or just being a good little boy. I couldn't believe it!
He also loved drawing on his care bear (there weren't any boy ones left) dry erase board.

He had been such a good little boy the whole way home so we decided to stop and walk around for a little bit at some look out in Oregon. He was amazed, he thought it was so fun.
It was super windy out! We both had funky hair do's after that.
We managed to get home around 8:00. My mom had dinner ready for us and my Dad had brought home a birthday cake for me. Brody of course loved eating cake and ice cream! It turned out to be a great birthday after all.

FEH - College Style

Brody Loves College FHE!!
Monday
March 8th, 2010
Saturday Brody and I headed off to Rexburg to visit Anya. What was I thinking right!!! Way too long of a drive with a 17 month old, But we survived and once we got there we had the time of our lives! I am so glad that we got to be there for a Monday. Anya has always talked about FHE and how her group is so much fun, but now we know they really are a blast. We had a scavenger hunt. We split up into groups and had an hour and a half to do as many things as we could. We got in Anya group totally by coincidence, they numbered us off. It was so much fun, Brody had a blast!

One of the things was to take a picture of your group having a snowball fight. I didn't realize until we got there that Rexburg still has snow!! Notice the huge snowball Anya has in the background. Another one was to do a strangers dishes. While we were at the park across the street I saw a guy doing dishes in the window, so we headed over. Once we were in I was kind of sorry I had said anything. It was so dirt and nasty inside, and it smelled too. Of course guys lived there.
We had to take a picture in a strangers living room. This was the same house we did dishes in.
Also the same house (we used them to get quiet a few done) we had to sing to them. They choose the Barny song for us to sing. I didn't even remember the words until they started singing and then it came back.
In front of a fast food chain. I cant remember the name of it, they made sandwiches though.
Help strangers across the street, this was the other girl in our group. There's a funny story with this one, the girlfriend got very mad a jealous that there was another girl on her mans arm! We could hear then still arguing about it when we left.
Not sure why this one didn't flip, but Anya had to huge a librarian. He didn't seem to mind too much.
a picture with a reptile of some sort.
Someone taller then everyone in our group. The other girl in our group was 6 foot so we had to search a little. I was surprised at how many short guys are at BYU-I!!

A member of our group purposing to a stranger. It cracks me up how serious he looks!
A human pyramid. Brody being in our group defiantly came in handy for this one.

At least half of our group had to do a hand stand, I was perfectly fine just being the camera man for this one. The first time I was a little late.
All three of them. When they were coming down the girl hit Stevens head like pretty hard!

A picture of a VHS.

A picture of a member shoving crackers in their mouth.
Lets just say that FHE is way funner at college!!

Another Photo Shoot

Another Photo Shoot
Wednesday
February 17th, 2010
My friend Tawnya has been wanting my Mom to take some pictures of her little girl for a long time, but it keep either raining or was just plain freezing out. So the first nice day we went. Another friend Dinah's son is turning one soon so my mom took some pictures of him too. I dressed Brody up even though I figured we wouldn't get too many of him, he hasn't been in a very good picture taking mood lately.

Us Moms with the babies.
Brody throwing one of his many many MANY fits. I think we're hitting the terrible 2's a little early.

Tawnya, Miss Supermom! She was holding Micah and Brody keep going over and holding onto her leg. We thought it would be funny to throw all the kids on her. Lets just say I don't think she'll be wanting 3 kids anytime soon!

The boys checking stuff out. Brody loves "fixing things".

Always trying to get away!
We finally got him to hold still for 2 seconds.

Brody's Favorite Things

Brody's Favorite Things
Wednesday
January 13th, 2010
A few weeks ago I was going through Brody's baby book and first year calendar I have. after seeing empty page after empty page I realized I have been SOO bad about writing things down. Especially just the fun little things. So I started making a list of his favorite things and here is what I came up with. They aren't really in any specific order, he loves them all!
  • Chocolate!!! In any shape, form or flavor. He doesn't care he just wants chocolate.
  • Bananas
  • Crystal light. When we were younger I always remembered having crystal light when we went to see Grandma and Grandpa Strailey. My Moms Dad was obsessed with it! Us kids couldn't get enough of it either. I forgot about it for a while after he passed away, then I got hocked on the individual bottle size ones and Brody has become addicted too!
  • Sour Patch kids, Sour patch watermelons, and Sour straws. I know weird, but he loves the sour Candy's.
  • His raunchy, offensively stinky puppy. He loves that thing to death! And you can tell too.
  • His Binky
  • When he gets tired he is starting to love to carry around his blanket.
  • Madagascar Escape 2 Africa. My parents got it for his for Christmas. He usually doesn't stay interested in movies for very long but he is mesmerized by this one. It gets to the point where we have watched it 4 times in one day. He even knows how to start it over by himself.
  • Books
  • Taking showers with Stuart. He doesn't like taking them with me for some reason.
  • Playing tag with Mom and Dad. One of us will hold him while the other chases after saying I'm ganna get you. Brody just cracks up, he loves it!
  • Talking, that boy is a chatter box. He only has a few words down but that doesn't stop him from chatting your ear off.
  • His favorite words are "Uh Oh", He says it every time he does something he knows he is going to get in trouble for. Its really quiet funny actually. "Hot", a lot of things are hot to him but he defiantly knows that the oven and Mommy's straightener are hot. Even time I open the oven he points at it and says hot. And his newest word is "what". I don't think he really knows what it means though. Sometimes I will say "Hey Brody" to get his attention and he will respond with "What".
  • Dogs, but even more then dogs I think he just loves saying wolf wolf. Almost every animal noise he hears makes him say wolf wolf.
  • Toothbrush. No matters who's it is, if he sees it he wants it.
  • Chap stick (defiantly his Mama's boy). But he not only likes to put it on his lips, he also loves to eat it.
  • Destroying wherever he is. He loves getting into anything and everything possible. I swear he moves about a hundred miles an hour. He has more energy then anyone I know and a very big personalty to go along with it.
  • Rolling his arms for Patty Cakes. My Mom and Dad taught him patty cakes when he was younger. earlier I was reading this list out loud to make sure I got everything and as soon as I said patty cakes he immediately started rolling his arms. Sometimes he just does it out of nowhere too.
  • And last but not least, going to Grandma and Grandpa Jensen's house.

New Years Eve Sledding

New Years Eve Sledding
Thrusday
December 31st, 2009
On New Years Eve Evan and some of his friends were sledding at the stadium hill. We were still at my parents waiting for Stuart to get home so we decided to take Brody over to have some fun. He absolutely loved it!! He had the biggest smile on his face and would just giggle the whole way down. He is such a stinkin cutie! I told my mom I couldn't believe that I ever wanted to do this and that it was fun. It was so COLD! I guess I'm just turning into a big wimp but I hate being cold and especially wet. So thank goodness uncle Evan is around to do fun stuff with Brody since Stuart is usually gone. Next year we will have to buy some actual snow clothes. I felt so bad for him in his little jeans, he didn't seem to mind too much though.
Evan is a great uncle to Brody, but by the end he was getting a little tired of it and just wanted to go with his friends. He couldn't do all the crazy things boys do with little Brody on the sled.
We couldn't quit laughing at the way Evan would carry Brody and the sled up the hill. I guess its good for Brody so he isn't so babied all the time but Evan acts like hes a football sometimes by the way he carries him around!
