Our Little Get Away

The Oregon Coast
Day Three - Friday
August 14th, 2009

There is this great little restaurant in Newport called the chowder bowl, we have to go there at least once every year. The fish is to die for, and the clam chowder is amazing too! On the way back we like to stop in Depo Bay and get some of our favorite salt water taffy and Carmel corn.

While we were waiting for my mom who was in another shop Grandpa treated us all to some ice cream, Brody had a great time sampling every ones different flavors.

There is this great little beach in Depo Bay we found when we stayed there one year. It is really small and really hard to get to but defiantly worth it.

We caught Dan taking a nap on the beach!

Stuart and Brody finding some cool rocks

A guy came down and brought his cat, weird I know. Brody thought the cat was pretty fun to play with, I'm not too sure if the feeling was mutual though.

After we got back we went to the beach by my parents house again. As you can see Brody had a great time in the sand, even when it was all over his face.

We knew my Mom was going to take tons of pictures of Brody. I didn't realize how big his swimming trunk were on him until I saw this picture, they are like pants haha!

The guys playing some football. Stuart trying to keep the ball from Dan.

I cant remember exactly how this happened but I think that Stuart said if Evan ran straight into the ocean and just dove in that all the guys would do it too. Here's Evan looking at Stuart Dan and my Dad after he did his turn.

Stuarts head poking out of the water...crazy guy, It wasn't even that warm out that night. After all the guys got in the water Natalie realized that we didn't even bring any towels down, and there was no way any of us were hiking it up those stairs to get some, we all thought that was pretty funny.

All the girls.

Natalie writing Stuart + Alissa = Brody in the sand

Stuart decided to write Howard hearts Arianne in the sand, he said if our names were going to be all over the blog so were theirs...he knows me too well!

Evan's Birthday was on the 2nd, but he was in Camas with the Burnett's so we never celebrated it. We bought an ice cream cake and celebrated a late 14th birthday down at the coast.

Our Little Get Away

The Oregon Coast
Day Two - Thursday
August 13th, 2009

Thursday was our beach day. We always have so many other things we would like to do while we were down at the coast but we always find at least one day to just sit on the beach. There is this great beach down by the Mo's restaurant in Lincoln City that my mom just loves. It has tons of logs for the kids to play on. So just to warn, there is lots of pictures!

We started the day off at my parents beach again, we loved it there too!

Brody fell asleep in the car on the way over, and actually stayed asleep!

He keep peeking around Natalie's chair, I thought it was so cute.

My Mom playing some ball with the guys. I believe she hit 3 home runs too, better then any of the guys!

Stuart fits right in with the guys. Him and Dan throwing Evan into the ocean.

Anya has always been such a good Aunt to Brody, they have a great relationship.

I always have to get in the water at least once, no matter how cold it is. It was actually a very nice day out, but the water was still freezing...that is until your so numb you don't feel it anymore!

Natalie brought these shovels and Brody absolutely loved them! He had a great time playing and digging in the sand.

You cant get much cuter then a little baby foot in the sand!

Stuart and Evan had fun with the skim board. I think Stuart forgets hes not 14 anymore though, he had kind of a rough night with his neck and back after that haha.

My mom loved taking pictures of Brody in the sand.

It started to rain so we left the beach for a while and went swimming at my parents hotel. Once it cleared up we went to the beach right below where they were staying.

Brody adores my mom, and she adores him too, I swear sometimes he thinks she is his mom!

Brody found the long grass quiet fun to play with.

Natalie and Erika. These two were such an amazing help with Brody! They are always so great with him, always willing to do something to make things easier for me, Thanks so much!

I absolutely adore my parents relationship, they are so in love with each other even after all these years and kids later. My Dad loves my Mom with everything he has, he would do anything and everything for her. My Mom thinks the world of my Dad as well. I can only hope that someday Stuart and I will have a relationship just like theirs.

Starting the camp fire up. Brody didn't last too long tonight so my Mom and I took him back to the house for a bath.

Erika and Emma, cute sisters!

Our Little Get Away

The Oregon Coast
Day One - Wednesday
August 12th, 2009
Every since I was little I can remember going to the beach as a family. I absolutely love the beach and always have. Some of my favorite family memories are of us at the beach. We always go with at least one other family with makes it so much fun. It hardly ever fails that the Burnett's go with us..we love spending time with the Burnett's, they are like family to us. We also love it when we can go at the same time as the Blair's, all the kids have so much fun together. I was so excited this year to not only be able to go with my parents but to also have my new little family with me as well. It was so much fun being there with Stuart and Brody. Last year when we went I was about 9 months pregnant with Brody, its crazy to look at those pictures and then see our new pictures from this year...so much can change in just one year!
(Just to warn you all, I might have gone a little over board on all the pictures, but Brody just looked so cute in too many of them!)
Stuart somehow got the idea stuck in his head that we were leaving at 4:00am..yes I said AM, haha if anyone knows me very well they know I am not a morning person. I am becoming better now that I am a mom, only because I have to though. Well we ended up waking up at 4:00, so there went his plan but we left our house at 5:20am..which is still very very early for me. Brody did really good in the morning. I took this picture not too long after he woke up, we thought it was so cute that he was stretching his leg up on all the luggage that was piled next to him.

No Brody is not driving, hes just sitting on Daddy's lap in the outlet malls parking lot. Anya freaked out when she first saw this picture, haha like we would actually let Brody drive. My parents went to Camas the night before and stayed with the Burnett's, so we meet up with them at the outlet mall and drove together the rest of the way.

Brody was sooo excited to be out of the car by the time we got there! He had had just about enough. I think he looks so cute and grown up in this picture. He looks like a little toddler, I still cant get over the fact of how fast he is growing.
The first thing we did was go out for some fish n chips and clam chowder. This is one thing I defiantly love about going to the beach, I will get it every time we eat out and never get sick of it, I'm not a big seafood fan..but when were at the beach that's all I want to eat. Brody didn't mind the clam chowder either, but didn't care too much for the fish. This is us at the beach access by the house my parents and the Burnett's rented. It was a beautiful beach but a big time pain to get to, way to many stairs!

Brody's first time on the beach. I wasn't too sure how he would like the sand but he ended up loving it right away, must of gotten that from mommy!

We of course had to bury him. We went easy on him though and just did his legs, didn't want to scare him his first time at the beach.

Of course he ended up eating a little bit, we knew that was going to happen. Everything that little boy touches sooner or later goes to his mouth. Surprisingly He didn't seem to mind it that much though.
We kind of considered this our Honeymoon too. We didn't go anywhere right after we were married so this was our little get away and honestly I loved spending it with everyone! They were great and gave us our alone time too but it was so much fun being with our family and friends.

My Dad and Husband. They already have a great relationship and I am so grateful for that. It has always been important to me that whoever I married would get alone with my family and my family would enjoy him as well.

Brody liked it, but he just ended up getting a whole bunch of sand stuck to his mouth!

My mom actually caught a picture of Stuart kissing me!! I don't know if it will ever happen again so don't get used to it. I have no idea why he is so uptight about it but he doesn't like to show affection in front of other people.
